What is Geo7?
Geo7 is a “one stop shop” for creating outdoor ministry or adventure. We can train you in the fine details
of putting outdoor adventures together or we can plan and staff an adventure for you. We take the anxiety away
from those that want to do outdoor ministry but may not know how to put an adventure together or don’t have the
skills themselves to lead a trip. We will be with you from start to finish.
What’s with the name?
“GEO” means the things of the earth. “7” is simply the perfect number. Geo7 uses the number seven for
many aspects of the program. Simple, recognizable, complete.
The Seven focused disciplines of Geo7:
Backpacking – Rock Climbing – Mountaineering – Rafting and Kayaking –
Road and Mountain Biking – Surfing – Alternative sports.
The Seven tenets of Geo7:
Love Jesus.
Do all things to the best of our ability.
Take care of the earth and LEAVE NO TRACE
Go out of our way to serve fellow outdoors people and nature through special projects.
Earn the respect of fellow outdoors people by being consistent in our actions.
Learn well by teaching well.
Pray for God’s glory to be done.
Why Geo7?
Simple. People love the outdoors. Fourteen years of outdoor ministry have taught me that there is not a
person alive that does not benefit from a wilderness experience in some way. Most kids will end up making the
outdoors a life-long passion. I have found that there is no better place to talk about the love of Jesus Christ than
on the side of a mountain, under the stars, next to a warm fire, away from the “world”.
Who can get involved with Geo7?
Here is the beauty of this program. There are thousands of people that love some outdoor activity. When
you ask those people if they have ever thought about using that love as a ministry to kids or adults, it has never
crossed their mind. Geo7 will give you whatever you need to make your outdoor love a ministry reality. We can
train you in one-to-one or group evangelism. We can teach you about the ins and outs of trip management and
planning details. We can train you in group safety and help in insurance and liability concerns.
What is the focus of Geo7?
Geo7 is made possible through Lane County Youth for Christ in Eugene Oregon. We are a Christ
centered, evangelistic, youth outreach. Therefore, Geo7’s ideal focus is on middle and high school kids. Although,
Geo7 is available to anyone of any age, race and gender with any outdoor passion to assist in the development of a
